In addition to solutions for image processing, there are always test objects that need to be visually inspected and evaluated by humans.
For this area of visual inspection, our LED lights are specially tailored to the needs of backlight or transmitted light inspection by humans.
Due to the various applications of our light tables, we offer 2 different versions:
Specially developed for industrial, food and medical applications. The smooth, robust, powder-coated housing is easy to clean. The 5 mm thick, anti-reflective cover plate provides a durable, high-quality work surface.
The housing colour and brightness have been selected in accordance with various standards for the visual inspection of objects.
M4 threaded holes are provided on the front and rear of the housing, allowing the basic light unit to be expanded with accessories at any time, such as template holders, glass plates, part-positioning fixtures, tilting stands and other options.
Optional features, such as an optocoupler switching input or a 1–10 V interface, can also be integrated into the light.
This particularly high-intensity series delivers illuminance levels of up to 70,000 lx, making it suitable for the transmitted-light inspection of even very dense materials.
Another advantage is the option to combine two freely selectable light colours in a single light unit.

This is precisely where our strength lies. Because planistar manufactures the lights in-house, we can produce customised backlighting with short delivery times.
So you don't have to follow our standard programme. We adapt exactly to your requirements and the conditions on site.
This saves you costs in theOur production processes are planned in such a way that a customised light has almost the same throughput as a standard light. The only difference is that the customised luminaire is precisely documented. This means that we are able to supply replacements even years later.

Lights direct from the manufacturer
In the revision of our product series, we consistently incorporate sustainability, as even the smallest details add up to create a significant whole.
This includes everything from resource and energy conservation, the careful selection of materials we use, to packaging and disposal.
Backlights are widely used for visual inspection across many areas of the manufacturing industry. Below, you will find a selection of typical applications from our customers.
Translucent materials are illuminated from behind using a suitable light source. This allows various features and defects to be detected, including:
The brightness and light colour must be optimally matched to the respective inspection object. Relevant features must neither be overexposed by excessive brightness nor insufficiently visible due to inadequate illumination.
For translucent trays, uniform backlighting facilitates visual inspection and enables missing or incorrectly placed components to be detected quickly and reliably. The enhanced contrast between correctly and incorrectly assembled trays (OK/NOK) reduces eye strain and helps employees maintain concentration.
When inspecting populated PCBs and electronic assemblies, backlighting also provides a clear view of component positions. Missing, incorrectly positioned or improperly installed components can therefore be identified reliably. LED backlighting supports dependable quality control and helps reduce errors in the production process.
The inspection objects are placed on a uniformly illuminated light surface. The enhanced contrast makes edges, contours and holes significantly easier to assess. This allows the following features and defects to be detected:
The brightness must be optimally adjusted to the respective inspection object. Excessive illuminance can cause overexposure around the edges, making relevant features and defects difficult to detect reliably.
For the visual inspection of reflective surfaces, the illuminated surface faces the operator. By combining transmitted and incident light, the light is reflected by the inspection object in a controlled manner. This creates a high contrast, making the following features visible:
The size of the illuminated surface must be matched to the inspection object. If it is too small, the usable reflection area—and therefore the inspection area—may be insufficient, particularly for irregularly shaped components. The correct brightness is equally important, which is why we recommend a dimmable version.
For the inspection of glossy surfaces, defined patterns can also be applied directly to the illuminated surface. Their reflection makes even the smallest irregularities and deviations in shape visible. The type, size and arrangement of these patterns—such as stripes or grids—can be customised to suit the specific inspection task.
